Hi Bloggers,
Finally, the longed moment is here. This is my last blog post which is also an end of my Internship programme after 2 months.I knew this moment will surface but not too early, my internship with Interhill Group of Companies most importantly PR Department has been mind blowing. I enjoyed every bit of it .I have learnt so many things which is beyond my imagination with the help of my Boss , I enjoyed working with her and i believe she does too. Without reasonable doubt,i believe i won't be forgotten so soon because am the first International Student to intern in Interhill Group of Companies which is to my own advantage.
I could remember vividly when were asked to do Media Monitoring and Media Clipping for my assignment in Media Relations, it was a bit tough but now i realize that in real world it is more tougher. There is a slight different in the real world though .I can't believe that i have to sit in front of my laptop searching through the net to see if our Press Release was published and flipping newspapers to check as well. This is a boring job I must say.
Sadly, I was assigned to do Media monitoring and Media clipping which is a common task any PR Student or an Intern must encounter. Frankly speaking , media monitoring is tedious and boring task ever. Although it got me thinking the need for media monitoring which I later realized that it provide insights on how to understand and learn from consumer behavior. It is important to know what customers are saying about the organisation as to interact in a way that fosters a good and positive perception of their brand . Media Monitoring and Media clipping is done deal thing whenever we have an event in the organisation.
The filling process is so frustrating because you have to do the clipping base on older dates till recent dates and it must be calculated to know it's worth .Flicking through various type of media outlet – newspaper (See Hua,Sin Chew Daily, Utusan Borneo, Borneo Post) was my task each time event is being carried out by CSR Department. At a point, i began to enjoy my task because it was now familiar to me.
In spite of the challenges I encountered during my internship placement yet I felt interning with Interhill Group of Companies was the right decision and a bold step. What a great experience on my first internship .It is simply amazing and loving.
Am hoping and trusting that Interhill Group of Companies will continue to enrich, grow and succeed in future as they continue to track social trends also obtain insight on how media and other opinion leaders are responding to their organisation. All I can say is best of luck.

Dear Francisca,
Congratulations! You have move a step further now.I have done media monitoring and clippings during my internship too. Indeed, it is the crucial step that every interns need to go through. But I love to do media monitoring because I get the chance to read a lot of newspapers.Reading has affected me to become more sensitive to the current events which I think it will benefit us as a PR practitioner.
I know it is not easy for an International student to work in a local firm but then you managed to prove to us that nothing is impossible! I am so proud of you!Good luck in your future career.
Regards,
