Product Launch Event

A product launch event is aimed to generate media coverage, creating awareness as well as boost sales for products or brands. The target audience will be the media as they are the key person of the event. They are invited to the product launch event to understand the new products and share the information to their readers. They will also determine whether your products or brands are worth to be published on newspaper. High media coverage can lead to high awareness and recognition of products.

Sephora Product Launch Event

My first event is Sephora Fall Collection event. I am lucky to join this event because this is my first time to interact with the media as well as the client. Sephora is one of our big clients. Every season, the PR agency needs to come out with PR plans to help the client in generating publicity for their brands. There are more than 30 brands under the company. As a professional PR people, we need to be familiar with our clients as well as their brands.

Before the event, we need to ensure that the event crew has set up the venue according to the theme. Besides that, my supervisor has brief us about the flow of the event and things that need to be concerned with.  I am in charge of the registration counter during the event. During the registration, I need to greet the guests politely and give them our press kits before they left the registration counter. I need to be responsive in dealing with the registration to avoid the media from waiting too long. The invited media will also be given a goodies bag with cosmetic and skin care products before they left the event. Other than that, I need to ensure that the invited RSVP have arrived and received the press kit.

Registration is a process where you can learn who the editors are and which publications they belong to. PR practitioners need to remember the names and faces of the invited media so a long term relationship can be built between the parties. Building good relationship with media is crucial for a PR practitioner. This is because media are so important and cannot be ignored especially during big events. Knowing the media well will bring positive outcomes to the company.

All the invited media will have the chance to interview the company about their latest brands and products. Refreshment has been served during the two hours event. The atmosphere of the event is relaxing and comfortable. As a PR practitioner, we need to be professional in terms of our attitude and attire. We need to speak politely and clear without confusing the media. Besides, we need to wear smart and professional. Our first impression is so important because we are the one who represent the PR agency.

Dear Jin Woei,

I totally agree with your statements about how PR practitioners should deal with the media. As the receptionist of the registration booth, pr practitioners should understand the importance of showing the professionalism in term of manner and attire, so able to gain good impressions from the stakeholders. You did a great job on explaining what you have learned in the corporation events. Looking forward to hear more from you. Best of luck to you in the future.
