Week two of my PR Internship was all about Macca's! The new interns, Bayley and Rory joined the PPR team (both from Curtin) so it was good to have some familiar faces.
Bayley was seated next to Brooke and I as we are all working on McHappy day and Rory behind us. Bayley and I got started on work pretty much straight away. We were given a huge A3 spread sheet of Metro, Suburban, Regional newsapers and the same for radio that we had to link up with which maccas store we could pitch a story to. For example Canning Times we had to call Cannington, Willeton, Riverton and Carosel and it was our decision to decide out of these stores, who had the best McHappy Day planned. All up I called 193 McDonalds Stores in one week and then Maddy gave us a template to pitch to each newspaper and radio station.
As you can imagine, this was pretty tedious work and took up the whole week. It was great to see the final result though, I really appreciate that PPR trusts us to come up with pitch's and actually send them off to Journalists ourselves.
McHappy Day is on the 17th of October ( Saturday) Even though my Internship would had ended, Bayley have offered to help PPR on the day and go to a few McDonalds store and see how the day is all going and watch talent etc.
The week ended with everyone in the office finishing at 4 for Gary's Leaving drinks. We all segregated to the kitchen where there was wine, ciders, beer, dominos, platters and Mama Tran. PPR is a really social office, so perfect for me, it ended up the week on a really positive note:)
