New Challenges!

I was told to attend a press conference with my Supervisor on the 23rd of September 2015. Around 9.45am my supervisor and I head over to Persatuan Bulan Sabit Merah Miri to attend a press conference with Dr Uma Devi about a talk that is going to be held on the 20th September 2015 at 10am by a speaker from India name Meera Nagananda. During the press conference I just sat and listen what are the questions asked by the reporters to Dr Uma about this talk on 'How to be happy at Work'. Upon finishing the press conference, the reporters asked to come close and hold the paper notice about the talk while smiling to the camera. At first I was thinking to myself should I be in the picture as I am an intern only, but Dr Uma and my supervisor did not hesitate to ask me to join in.

I did not know that it will be out in the newspaper, on the 25th September 2015 my supervisor gave me the paper and said "look you appear in the newspaper". I was very shock that first time in my life I appeared right in front of the newspaper without being block by people. It was quite amusing and amazing for me at the same time.

This is the newspaper clippings that I got which I am at the far left.

On the 29th September I was told to attend the talk on 'How to be happy at work' at Persatuan Bulan Sabit Miri with one of the librarian as my Supervisor is busy with auditing. However, without any preparation I was asked to emcee in English but I did well although I was nervous.

On the 30th September 2015, I've experience an event where we had a fire drill for the whole of Pustaka. Everyone was running out, including all the students studying at the library. When we reach at the assembly point, we line up and wait for the next instructions. My officers told the students and the people who are using the AV Room and Auditorium that it is just a drill and hope that nobody is hurt while running out. As for the staff we had to wait till everyone got back into the building and we had a small briefing by the fireman chief. After the small briefing, we came back to office and had a small tea break session including all the fireman. It is a good thing that we had a fire drill as this is to train us in case of any emergency occur.

The fire truck was here too

Overall, all the activities I did was good because I get the exposure of learning new things. Till the next post! Cheers!

Hi there Karen,

Its amazing how you can emcee straight away. I've experienced that before, but I'm not too sure was it good. But hey, we pulled through.

The event is very good and it seems like you have learn quite a bit while interning in Pustaka Miri. Glad for you!

Hope to hear more from you!

Hi Karen,

Thank you for your feedback on my blog post. Yes indeed, media clipping is vital and essential as a public relation practitioner.

After reading your post, I am amazed and astounded by how well you are doing interning at Pustaka Miri. With all the exposure and opportunity for you to grab, I am certain you will be as successful as how you want to be.

Keep up the good work at Pustaka Miri. I would love to participate in any of your upcoming event!
