Not only did I experience having my media releases sent out to the West Australian, being apart of a major social event, participating in Perth Fashion Festival alongside a designer.
I never walked into my internship carrying any expectations, but having a whole lot to learn and give.
Working in-house is one of the elements I really enjoyed. I definitely think whatever industry I go into that I would want to stay in-house. I liked the idea of collaborating as a team and mapping out what we were aimed to complete in a four month period for Steph Audino. Going forward I think that my strengths lie within in-house PR work.
After all the work put into my internship, I definitely think this whole experience was worth it. I learnt so many invaluable tools to the trade and I know that I am willing to keep learning as much as I can in the industry.
Participating in this internship has allowed me to evaluate whether I really wanted to be apart of the PR industry and I know it's an industry I love and want to be apart of. I look forward to seeing how I will be able to use the skills and knowledge that I've learnt from the PR units completed whilst at uni and implementing them into my future endeavours in PR.
What environment do you think best suited to you in the future? Consultancy or In-house?

Hi Brigette,
Glad to hear you enjoyed your experience! Its interesting that you bring up in-house PR vs Consultancy work. I always though consultancy would interest me as I liked the idea of working with different business's that would have different PR needs. But after my internship, I also really loved the in-house aspect of PR, and being able to work as a team to help build the organisation. So I agree with you, I feel like my future in Pr would be in-house also.

Hi Brigette,
Sounds like you had an amazing internship! I volunteered at the Telstra Perth Fashion Festival last year and had a great time working with designers, journalists and the media as well.
I've recently completed my internship at a not-for-profit- Relay for Life Fremantle despite my original intentions of interning at an in-house fashion agency. After reading about your experience, I will definitely be seeking an internship experience post-graduation in the in-house too! :)

Hi Brigette,
I had the same experience as you, I think. After years at university studying, I wasn't even sure if I wanted anything to do with the public relations industry. This placement and another couple of internships I've done have really turned me around. I'm so glad that I chose to study PR and I can't wait to get involved with it!
I've done a lot of events based internships, so I think my next endeavour will be trying consultancy or in-house work.
I worked a few days at Telstra Perth Fashion Festival this year too and absolutely loved it. Writing media releases for designers I adore was an awesome experience.
All the best
Bridgette
