Welcome to PR Internship - YOUR opportunity to put everything you have learned over the past years at university into practice and to get a thorough insight into what public relations is like "in the real world". This Blog allows you to reflect on your experiences, share insights with other students across campuses and to possibly give advice and support to fellow students. Eight paths one journey
Had a very busy week this week, but the highlight (after all the running around and having our roof almost collapse in and kill our air conditioner we were back in business) was being given my first real project! (very exciting!!) I have to organise a clients exhibition, sourcing sponsorships, inviting VIPs researching other festivals and events we could contribute to and maximising media exposure. Last week was alot of research in the exhibition and contributors and I now have another junior consultant helping me out which is great. Really excited about this week, I have to start getting invites out and have started looking at potential sponsors, so its time to start getting a sponsorship proposal together and following up on leads and existing clients. PR is a really exciting industry to be in, especially be on the brink of a recession, marketing budgets are getting reduced and communication strategies to a degree but there are so many PR opportunities with a limited budget. We have had a few projects put on hold - mainly building developments, but now with the fed government housing incentive our property clients are coming to us to add features into newsletters and websites. We are also in the process of getting our own web site to go live and i have been asked to be the weekly contributor - so a busy couple of weeks ahead!! Good luck to everyone else doing their prac and still finishing off their report, its crunch time now, tomorrow its adding the appendices in for me...
