I guess practical training is not just about executing tasks on Public Relations or other related activities, it’s also about interpersonal communication and relationship-building among the employees/colleagues. I learned to stay neutral and not caught in between any fights or argument of my colleagues’. In the process of learning, I am observing how my colleagues handle interpersonal communication before reaching out to club members and stakeholders.
I believe different company has their own working culture. Some might be laid back; some might be serious or strict. I am lucky to be working with this organisation, my colleagues guided me well throughout the practical training.
Currently, ‘Malaysian Open’, an international golf event, is held at Saujana Golf and Country Club. My colleagues are busy taking turns to go there as limited passes are given to our club. Their experience during this golf tournament will help in hosting ‘Malaysian Open’ at Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club. The planning for the tournament has started; the department is busy listing down the things that need to be done.
Other than that, these past few days, I’ve been learning about making corporate identity manual. As the club in the process of upgrading and renovation, PR department is in charge of many corporate branding activities. On the verge of making the club a 6star golf club, many things are in the process of revamping. Every department plays an important role in it. Two-way communication is practiced in this club house in order to assure everything is in progress.
I am grateful that I am exposed and assigned to tasks regarding the club’s new website, the “dos and don’ts” in the golf course, golf etiquette, newsletter making, corporate branding, relationship-building and other PR related activities in this organisation.
I would love to work in golf industry as it seems to be a challenging industry. There are always ups and downs that PR people have to go through. This is certainly a good training before stepping in working world in no time ;)
Cheers!

I 100% agree with you. Working in different context will enable you to learn different "culture". Staying away from any "political" issues is way to go. Get your job done in a timely manner with good quality is the most important thing. Well done Fish!
i like it when you mention interpersonal communication and relationship building as i believe those are the areas i was exposed to during my internship.since i was in a goverment organisation which is not only focusing in pr lot of interuction was essential for work to be done.various channels to be in touch and for effective flow of information within the organisation worked well for me during the placement.
Thanks Sylvester, Keletso :)
I hope your internship is as enriching as mine.
