I have been working now for more than one month for Cargo Handling Corporation and we, the employees in the HR and Communication department have been asked to prepare the application forms for two vacancy posts and then to send the advert to the IT department so that they could put it on the company’s website. However today, a lady phoned to say that we have vacancies with last day of application to be in November 2008. What a shocked it was to me as I have sent the correct information to the IT department. This was a big issue as the lady was asking how a well known company as Cargo Handling could have made an error like that. So, I had to save the company’s image by talking to the lady.
What I did is very simple. I have learn that as a PR person to always tell the truth and this is what I did and I the end of the day the lady was satisfied with me. I admitted the error and said that this will be corrected immediately and also that such error would never occur. Then after the conversation, I immediately phoned the IT department so that they would correct their mistake.

It is amazing to see that big organisations and corporations still do not place a big importance to the PR profession. Strategies and consulting services provided by PR resources would facilitate effectively build, develop and foster relationships; ensuring effective internal and external communication and ultimately saving the reputation of any organisation. In this case it was you who had to do that, and I believe you have done it in a very professional manner. You admitted an error and provided some credibility back to the company, that makes a big difference.
