Oh my! How time flies. So the final day to get everything together, finish up your placement and last minute cramming.
I have come to realise how important PR is in the business world. So many people assume they know what PR is and think that anyone would be able to take a PR role minus the university degree. What people don't know is that PR is beyond socialising (which I actually believe is what my placement thinks) and they would never know if they don't seek to reep the rewards of a good PR campaign.
So I fixed the misconception and gave my recommedations, which I hope they will take on board. It doesn't require extra funding, just a little bit of extra work and I think it would benfit them in the long run.
In this time of crunch you see how important deadlines are in PR. If you have a media release deadline or planning for an event you have once chance to reach it otherwise you have missed that opportunity to be published or have found yourself having to pospone an event. No more extensions, with excuses and doctor certificates, this is the real world.
I'm a little sad on leaving the office, the people that I work with have been great. I hope everyone has enjoyed there time as much as I have
Wish you all luck!

Hi Ivy,
I am also really sad to of leaving my office as I learn so much. At the beginning of my placement I was very confused about where Public Relations would be able to fit in a marketing company. However, in doing my report and in thinking about what happened and what I did, I realised that Public Relations has major role in any sorts of business. Without a clear internal or external communication a business cannot survive.
Hope that your report is going well.

I completely agree with the notion that there is a place for public relations in most businesses, even if it is primarily focused on internal affairs and the communications of a business. I also now believe after completing my internship the size of a business is not really relevant either, the skills I have learnt can be applied in unlikely situations.
