We had our annual “Hansgrohe Golf Invitational 2009” on 18 August 09 and this is one event that we have always asked The Peak Singapore Magazine to organize, year after year. The reason is because The Peak has a strong base of faithful readers who are above average income earners, with about 43% earning in excess of US$200,000 per annum. Most of them are professionals in senior management positions and this perfectly matches the profile of our clientele base.
Even though Hansgrohe Singapore usually organizes its own events, the annual golf event remained under the care of The Peak Magazine, despite the fact that all the event management ladies at The Peak had left and were replaced with new blood.
I used to think that event organizers are people with the most experience in a particular sort of event and in this case, a golf event, which means a golf event organizer would be some golf expert who have rich experience in golf and be the most familiar with requirements such as green fees, handicap, grouping of the flights and all the rest of the golf jargon which I have yet to muster. But apparently, this may not (just) be the case.
In our partnership with The Peak, the best value that they brought us is probably not their expertise in handling golf events, but their ability to obtain good sponsors such as Jaguar (who sponsored a prestigious car for the hole-in-one prize), their handling of our RSVP (which took a huge load of manual work off our lean team) and most importantly, their branding, which is on par with ours.
Even though nobody won the big hole-in-one prize, the golf event was nevertheless a huge success and we were already talking about next year’s event. This annual event (even though costs a lot) is certainly a good platform for us to keep pace and contact with our VVIPs.
