In the first step, the senior directly pointed out that the conference should be serious and formal one that can leave a vivid and deep impressive image and influence to the stockholders and media, and also, this was also a media conference that would answer the media’s questions. In short, the more know the information about the corporation , the more positive image this enterprise would have. That is why PR department selected Shanghai as the place to release this information, because Shanghai is the most modern developing city in China and Lu’an Group also sold its stocks in this city. Then, PR office sent the media kit and invitation cards to the relative media including the Shanxi and Shanghai and some of the key stakeholders such as Henan Railway Group. The venue is also reasonable, we chose Shangri-la Hotel with 5 stars to hold this conference, the location is beside the Huang Pujiang river which belongs to the economic zoon in Shanghai.
After this directional decision, the rest of work such as media conference and preparation for meeting room , we employed a professional PR consultant agency to help us to fix it. During the conference, the leadership indeed did a plentiful preparation for media’s questions, finally got the positive feedbacks from the stakeholders and media, then PR office continued to follow the news releases and new letters to spread the influences into the stakeholders after the conference. On July 4th, the stocks of Lu’an increased by 0.2% because of July 3rd meetings.
In the second step, this is more complex than media conference because this one would be held like an internal “family” day in Shanghai, it is not a formal conference that we can follow the regular steps to implement. Particularly, we didn’t have the enough time to re-prepare for this meeting, this indeed challenge to us. Basically, we decorate to the meeting room with the colorful stuff such flower and balloon in terms of the atmosphere , then we also prepared the gifts that the employees would give to the CEO of Lu’an Group, this is also a highlight in the entire activity.
Meanwhile, we also responded to the media during this meeting, and proposed the interviews and shot angles in the meeting, fortunately, this conference was ended by a dinner party held in Shanghai Lu’an Hotel, especially, the leaders of group sited down with the common workers together to have a dinner , this is an essential image left to everyone working in Lu’an Group.
- What I did in this event
- PR Strategy Proposal
Basically, I was frequently called to attend the meeting and discussion. Especially, Mr. Jing would like to give me a lot of opportunity to anticipate in the idea- generation process, even though my ideas on the work is not mature for the PR proposal, moreover, he would talk with me on what I said during the discussion privately and suggest me some advices that I only learn from practice. In particular, I am more active and brave to tell others my ideas, eventually, my colleagues would like to listen to me and accept my suggestions. Finally, I got one chance to prove myself in greeting the leadership in the internal communication meeting in Shanghai. We must prepare a gift that represent for the Lu’an Group employees, and chose a representative to give the gift to group’s CEO. Obviously, the gift can not be too expensive, because it is not suitable for CEO who never need the luxury, what we need is to leave a deep impression in CEO’s memory , it should be a meaningful with the significance. Therefore , I suggest that , PR office should make a stele with an inscription, which is combined by four Chinese character : “一路安心”, (Yi Lu An Xin), means set your heart at rest because of our struggle please , this conveys a appreciations to the leadership’s care. Furthermore, for showing the employee’s appreciations, these four characters are made up of the employees’ names. My boss was attractive by my idea and implement this suggestions, fortunately, that stele become the highlight in the meeting.

2. Working with Media Outlets
In terms of knowledge of journalism and FTV, I could more or less understand where the news value is and propose the some news view angles and shots for printed media and TV station, I have to say, this made the news more readable and interesting, but also exposing Lu’an Group’s brand. The nature of hard news broadcasting by TV or publishing in printed media is still providing the most trustworthy information to the public.
During the meeting, I also responded to work with journalists, the communication skills were urgent for me to improve. Meanwhile, how to let journalists work as PR practitioners’ ideas while avoiding to offend them at the same time bothered me and made me think about for a long time as well.

How lucky you are to have had the opportunity to work with a supervisor that gave you personal one on one feedback on how to communicate in a business meeting. It sounds like you have had a very interesting and beneficial internship placement, where you have had the opportunity to put many of the skills we have learnt in university to the test.
Congratulations
Leah
Well, I will say " Thank you!"
To be honest, this is really not same as what we learnt in our textbook, basically, at the most of time, you even don't have the time to consider the knowledge in the books, I mean, you have to have the sense of when, what and how to choose the best moment and channels to implement the series activities.
I acknowledge that I did accept many helps and suggestions from my supervisors and my senior colleagues, becasue they give me enough trusts on my personal abilities, you know, for a freshman, it is not believable that they will provide many opportunites for your internships. Especially, you don't have second time to redo it if you failed it.
On the other hand, if you want to be more professional, you must be more active and open yourself in the public environment. Actually, I even got the opportunity to talk with our CEO during the event, I mean, if you don't have any extra thinkings, you should be more confident to talk with him even if he is the highest position in the enterprise. In short, this is your job, PR practitioner's job. However, I am scared , coz my brain suddenly didn't know speak what. Hehe
Furthermore, you should know the working behavior of journalists, that will be helpful when you treat them in the media conference. Trust me, it's not to buy somebody, it is the polite.
I can't say I have learnt many, but I think, the things that I only observate will lead me to think the entire event again and again, you know, to know reviewing the previouse process is my boss's advises to me.
Anyway, it is interesting and fun. Thank you!
