My last day as an intern with Mount Rich

Last Friday marks the end of my internship and I have somewhat made the decision to stay on and of course the difference is... I get paid!

There is still more room for PR work and I am enthusiastic about seeing it through till it takes off. The PR Strategy Plan has been developed and the next step is the execution of the whole plan. However, I am concerned about my lack of experience in the PR field which may ultimately affect the progression of the plan. I have considered recommending an engagement with a PR consultancy firm to advice us further.

Overall, I have gain good and bad experiences from this internship. The good is that I was given the autonomy to make decision pertaining to PR and build a department from scratch. The bad is that I have no or very little guidance to the PR work processes and that sometimes made me doubt my abilities to perform the duties. I have thoroughly enjoyed the internship.

Again, I must stress that my boss has been really supportive and understanding. Although he is not in the same field, he has shared with me invaluable lesson to building good relationship with people and maintaining it. I am truly thankful to the opportunities he has given me.

In my opinion, I have yet to experience the whole crusts of Public Relations. I have touched base on the planning part but not the execution and evaluation process. Without a doubt, more challenges will come my way but I am determined to work hard and do my very best!

The internship has ended but that won’t be the end of my career in the field of Public Relations!

Hi it is always the case that when going for internship we do not get exactly what we expected but according to me it is up to us to push our bosses so that they can recognize and feel our presence as well as potential and skills hence assigning us in relevent fields to learn.

The corporation that i work for has got the Communication and Public Relations Manager then a Public Relations Officer. These are my bosses both experience in the field of journalism and public relations but i always try by all means to be open with my ideas and suggestions.

Its a good thing you are done and you were getting paid some of us didn't get anything but that is not the case though, what we learn is more important.

All the best in future as we are about to experience a lot in the workfield.

Hey Sook Wei,

Guess this is not the end but a beginning for us to embark on a new journey in the PR field...Supportive and understanding bosses are bonus to staff, nothing more we could ask for...Most importantly, we are given the chance to prove ourselves and at the end of the day feeling grateful for the opportunity given to us.

Cheers,
Cinthia
