EVENT MANAGEMENT IN PR

In the 4the week of my internship, and realising a whole lot about PR. It's a very broad field which does not only entail media releases, pitching, press releases/conferences as I had thought but rather they can also do event management which in most cases they do staged events , media conferences and fashion shows parties.

This has been an eye opener for me as I am now learning the basic requirements for large events and what routes to take when organising one in terms of strategies to create awareness, identifying the target audience and the communications tools to reach the target audience. We were each assigned to come up with ways to reach out to the audience especially to the youth in which posters and flyers were distributed to our fellow schoolmates, facebook, twitter and sending out invites via yahoo which has turned out to be a success.

For this week, we have been doing major planning and set up for the event which means double the work and pressure. We were allocated task for this week, and I am still doing media monitoring which is not only about searching for sections where they mention about the event but, have to make a written report on a daily basis so as to keep the client well aware that the media does inform the public.

For this event, I am now placed under the event management team were I will have to ensure that everything is in place, that is the day map. This will include ensuring that the seat arrangements are in order and each staff team knows which task to do, ensuring that the musicians are comfortable and given attention at all costs.

Busy week but interesting(**,)

Looking forward to the event and hope to see you guys there

HEY BOTSALO
its good that you are enjoying and coming to realize the importance of new technologies in pr. social networking sites are very vital in the communication arena which is one of the pillars of pr, we need to utilise the resources we have to acheive the greatest level of success, i hope your event went on smoothly.

hey Bots...

Yah PR does entail a lot of things, its very broad and growing fast. For example for me its a bit more than just event management, students are our clients, we give them number one priority. I have to make sure there are aware of the school, programmes offered, events and if they come to apply I have to make sure they are well taken care of so that the name of Mantissa is uplited. Even international students, I have to make sure they are picked on time at the airport and everything is arranged for them by the teams that work with international students because the name and reputation of the college is to be esteemed. this is something I thought was for international services but it turns out you have to monitor everything from events, media to everything involving your clients.

At the end of the day your duty is to please your clients and make a good name for the company.this is just how broad PR is like, there is someone in Australia working in a fashion design company doing PR check her post you will discover just how broad PR is

good luck dear with the remaining weeks of your internship....
