At this time I believe none of us is complaining about nervousness or something. We are now on track and know what is supposed to be done. I am so thankful for your encouraging words guys, we are here to keep each other strong and going even when it is not easy.
My eyes are opening day after day and I can see further in the work industry. The little light I had at the beginning is growing bit by bit. Last week we had a High 5 cooking session with Chef Ismail and I learned that being done with the event does not mean that the company-client relationship was over. Yes we have to work on other upcoming events for different clients but we still had to do media monitoring to see if the event was published. We also had to prepare post event press releases and photos, burn them to CDs and distribute to the invited media even those who did not make it. On top of that, we have weekly meetings with High 5 senior staff and I attended it with one of the employees.
The meeting reminded me of the time we were pitching in one of our PR assignments. The very same thing was done as my colleague gave them out what she was planning for the days to come and kind of asked for their approval and opinions before acting on the plans. We also discussed media articles about the cooking session; the coverage and if target audience got the information. We are now preparing for another event for one of our clients, we sent invitation cards to the media. So there is no time to waste as it will never return... there are many clients for S&A and the ratio is not balancing; 8 employees:200+ clients!!! mmmm... now you understand what I mean by being busy..
I love my placement because despite being busy we can still laugh and have fun in the office!!!
Chao... ;)

'The journey continues.' Hello Molly! Like you said follow-up is really vital after the big event. How? Media monitoring. This is the reason why we do media monitoring almost everyday at work to check whether the events are covered.
hey Molly
Now that is a conducive working environment. No matter how busy or heavy laden you are you should always be able to spare a few minutes to laugh as this refreshes. Public relations is about image and relationship building and like the saying goes 'charity begins at home,' you guys are living proof that for your abilities to shine are not undermined by your number but rather flow out from the inside (strength of the team). A good working environment= happy employees/staff=satisfied clients. You might be few in number but the fact that you guys are managing thus far with such a large number of clientele is assurance of your abilities to work together as a team, besides there is a saying that 'too many cooks spoil the broth.' I have a feeling by the time you are done you will be more prepared to take on whatever the market demands because you are already facing the pressure of working in a small unit.
I strongly agree with you Molly. Encouragements give us strength to go on even when we feel like we cant go on anymore. More especially when we are both on internship we can both tackle the problems together and discuss the issues that we face together. It is always encouraging to hear how people whom I am in the same boat with overcome the problems they face and I sometimes use the same principles to tackle the same issues.
The event finishes when all the work of media monitoring have been done. I mean all things which are involved under Post Event are all finished that is when the event is finished.
Thank you for your contribution guys. We are now coming towards the end of the placement and I believe we are all going to fully utilize the information we acquired and everything we learned there practically.
I really love that equation Godirilwe; A good working environment=happy employees/staff=satisfied clients. That is exactly what is happening at S&A.. we are always happy even if there is much work to be done.
