I know we work every time but not all the time, even though we do not have a lot to do at times my advice is never to idle around in the office. Do not allow urself to be valnurable at any point to the mistake of being idle or sleeping or dozing or looking like you don't know what to do next in your work place.
what do you do to keep yourself awake and lively in your work place and what do you do keep busy in order to impress the supervisors. this is important so that we learn from each other and help each other make a name for ourselves in our reputable companies and maybe get yourself a place to come back after you finish your studies.

i like your Tip. That happened to me on my first week because i had nothing much to do expect media monitoring.
i learned a lot from it that what about the period i will be responsible for the office and has nothing to do, i'm i going to sleep? i realized that idling demolishes the quality of our professional ethics. Just imagine you are in the office and clients arrive what percepetion are they going to have on your company? remeber the PR ethics. Ethics also include how we conduct ourself in the company. and i believe that every company also have ethical practices governing the employees. sleeping and idling are against ethical code of conduct in the company.
we learn a lot in our companies.

I agree with you, sleeping in an office as a PR professional is not a good state for your clients to find you in because if they do they will think you are either useless or lazy and cannot take up serious tasks.
If a company for example is facing some crisis and they come over to the office to ask your consultancy to help them with their crisis and they find you sleeping there is no way they can consider you for their case and so we should atleast keep busy give clients a good impression at the office and the minute you get home wow off to bed,lol.
ah you brought up a good point on ethics. it does show you are iresponsible when you sleep in the office. I know its not easy to stay awake, I found it hard after watching a football match during the world cup but I still had to stay awake in the office no matter what.
This is not to say ,make yourself suffer no but look for ways to make this work for your profession
Wow!! That's a very good tip Pearl, a week has got 5 working days and most of us are not busy the whole 5 days. As for me I like going to my supervisors and asking them if there is anything I can do but sometimes there will be nothing. That is when I can open the blog and comment on my colleagues' posts as it is part of my course.
Thank you for the tip. Its a good tip to be followed by all. An office is not a bedroom or a living room, an office means business and that means that every second counts. You have to make sure that you use every second effectively.
As for me I use the time at home effectively by sleeping until I get satisfied. When I go to work I leave sleeping behind. I believe idleness shows irresponsibility, there is never time for nothing in the office.

mmm...thats a good one dear ,it is good for us to know what we have to do , you can't learn new things if you are always sleeping at work. Better you do further reseaches and ask your supervisor if their is anything to do for that time.
never idle, very true. its short as it is and very true as it sounds. Being idle does not show responsibility, it shows immaturity and does not show professionalism. Public relations is all about communication, and getting to know of what happens around the world, one has to be well equipped about what happens in their surroundings, there can never be enough news gathered.
What i do when i have finished all the work assigned for the day, is to read online news, it keeps me well informed about the world, and helps me in picking valuable conversations with my boss at work, and my colleagues.
I can even pick up ideas as i am reading various news papers, i read asian news papers, african, european, Australian and american, and i try to link up the news between different continents, this helps me a lot and it keeps me well focused at work.
Maybe you could try what i do. Just get down a pen and a journal, you will be amazed as to what ypu discover everyday!
