PHATSIMO DIKHUDU LUCT

For 4th week of my internship, there was a community event that introduced a newly monthly projects that will commence whereby each community will be improved ; standard living of the people. For the one i attended in Bontleng, it was the launch of a monthly projects that starts and gardens were made that will help to feed the poor as well as to generate money that will be used for the community benefit. News were distributed to people. I learnt that the publics are the most important keys that each organisation has to think about in their decision so that they can gain a good reputation, just like ministry of environment, wildlife and tourism did, to show its contribution to the welfare of the country.

FISHERIES WORKSHOP

I also took a week trip to attend a workshop helped by the Wildlife and National Parks at Jakalas No.2 in North East District from 6-12 December, 2010. Research is very vital on everything we do, it helps the organization to better understand their environment and understand it to their ability to achieve objectives. The research was done on fisheries that the Northern part of Botswana has a lot of water that can help the community sustain a life, therefore through this research, it help the Wildlife and National Parks to come up with a solid decision to make a program that implemented the methods that the community can use to start a fish farming to improve their life’s and make use of the country natural resources, like dams.

Therefore, the purpose of the workshop was to create a public awareness in fish farming and fisheries technology as well as coming up with co management strategies for the natural resources utilization. There were different spokespersons, including The Chief Technical Assistant Mr Kesego Kutoro, the councilor of Jakalas No.2 and Siviya Ward Mr Bakani Badzili as well as Mr Lebang Nkela from the Ministry of Agriculture, Department of Agribusiness Promotion. They all encourage the youth to venture in to fish farming and take advantage of the government schemes like youth grant; the money given by the government to the youth to start their own fish farming.
