hello

its high time i let you know what i have been doing after a long struggle of finding this blog....i just got the link of this blog now.

i started my internship on the first of december 2010 at Department of Wildlife and National Parks, in the information service division. In this division we make sure that all the departments under the ministry of environment, wildlife and tourism receive all the latest information that is necessary to know.

In my first week, i learnt the importance of deadlines because i had to meet the deadlines so that the information can reach stakeholders of ministry of environment, wildlife and tourism each week. In this division, each week, bulletin has to be realeased to all the departments about what happened during the week, because i am based in the headquaters, therefore in my first week, i edited the bulleting that was realesed in the same week.

In my second week, i went to cover the event of the elephant that killed a child in Mokolodi in 2008, therefore the department of wildlife wanted to carry out reseach and they wanted the horn of that elephant, therefore they were dig out and the story was distributed to all the necessary stakeholders.

So far i learn that, the news that you come up with has to factual and since i'm dealing with diffrent divisions, and departments, whom they depend on me to know all the events, news and information that i had to represent them in such events, therefore i learnt that i should be accurate and be transparent when dealing with clients and all the people that i'm working so that i perform my job smoothly.

On the third week of my internship, as a member of information service divison, i went to a trip of seven days to a village called Jacklas 2 for 5 days to represent the department of wildlife and national parks in fishery workshop, whereby the objective was to create awareness of fishery and teach them about the importance of fish farming as there are lots of rivers that they can fish to earn a living as well as to encourage them to start fishing farming, so i went there to cover that event so that those who did not attent will know what happened.

And then i shot straight to another town called Maun to cover the Botswana Wildlife Traing Institute graduation ceremony,as well as taking photos to support the press release.

For this past 3 weeks, i have learnt a lot about public relations that dealing with the stakeholders is very important as they are the keys that determines the success of the department and i have to be patience in dealing witn clients.
