Busy month :Preparations for a major event. Olerato (LUCT)

Hello everyone.

Compliments of the new year!

This is my second update post on my internship with ABU-Malaysia.now that the holidays are over companies around the world are returning back to work and also working towards events that start up the year.well this time around i will be talking about aspects or inputs needed into preparing for a major event.

With a major event coming up , everyone is busy in the office, i had to follow up on clients as far as in Hong Kong and Singapore, but mostly within the Asia-pacific region. This follow up included sending invitations to clients and asking for sponsorships and exhibitors for the major conference that will be taking part in less than two months from now.Asking companies for sponsorship is no easy task than i had thought. Big companies need to be informed about these things many months before the official event so that they could also prepare themselves and ensure if they will be able to meet to the organisations criteria on the sponsorship/exhibition agreements and respond to the invitation sent on time.

Now the difficult task of them all is that i was required to draft an invitation for all these companies before sending the invitation letter, i have lost count on how many attempts it took me to get just a professional invitation that was later to be verified by my bosses before sending it out.During that moment i felt like a failure not being able to get things the right time, making mistakes is not permitted when sending stuff to companies but as they say everything is a learning curve.

After i had sent the invitation i had to create a banner/brocher that is to be attached to the major event. The goodness about being an intern is that the organisation allowed me to explore and utilize my creativity to my full capability provided the i take into consideration the organisations corporate colours and infuse them with theme of the event. However with that being said i have come to learn that organizing for an event needs more effort to make the event happen.

Nevertheless there is still more work and many things that i m still yet to learn, right now everything is on the surface, its still the beginning. And i hope to keep on pushing myself further into expanding my knowledge regarding public relations at large and the working world. The next coming months are going to be hectic.

First of all, I'd like to say thank you Olerato and 11 words at my first glance; a lot I've learnt by going through at this post.

As often mentioned words of Julius Caesar, The great Roman leader, "Experience is the best teacher' (ESC, personal communication June 29, 2003).

In the long run, the experience of having been involved in a major event is a huge stepping stone experience in PR which is no piece of cake whilst rewarding.

On my point of view, PR has an exciting side of art in aethetic and creativity in the process.

From the post, alligning to the best of my knowledge, Olerato had put on her best effort in exploring the challenge and captivating task in PR.

However, if this is how happened to be the beginning, there'll be more to learn in the learning process. Olerato, wish you more great experience to come in the nearest future.
