The same week, on Wednesday, I attended the Media briefing Conference whereby different journalists attended, from many media house for example there was journalist from Gazette Newspaper, Daily News, Gabz FM, The Voice Newspaper, DWNP ( Department of Wildlife and National Parks) Information Services and Sunday Standard Newspaper, where the spokesperson Mr Steve Monna, the Director of DEA( Department of Environmental Affairs) launched the commemoration of World Wetland Day which was to be held on the 3rd of February 2011 at Kasane, that occur once per year to come together and celebrate this day as well as to keep on encouraging the community to play a role in conserving the environment, not to put only the responsibility in the Ministry of Tourism.
All these stories were included in the weekly newsletter that is due each week during the end of week to update the stakeholders as well as the community on current news that affect them. We normally communicate with the community through the media, and use mouth to mouth tactic, we use the media to spread information that is vital to the community, for example Radio Botswana-RB1 Station for announcements, we also posters on wise use of water and electricity and these two elements were chosen in order to show the community that Department of Wildlife and National Parks is not only concern about animals and environment but also is concerned about the life of the people and these posters were to remind the community to take care of use of water and electricity, as it is one of the most important elements of maintaining a good life, and they were to be distributed across Gaborone, Maun and other surroundings. I will try and include them in my report as they are still on check ups.
