Its been a while since i updated everyone on what i have been up to.Working for Asia Pacific Broadcasting union is a dream come true for an intern. I came to ABU as an inter under public relations and i have really learnt a lot so far and now i know that they are many things beyond the aspect of public relations and what it involves.
So the organisation organised a training for us interns at RTM, and to my shock i just realized that after living in Malaysia for such a long time still i did not know so much about the what goes on in the media industry and its importance to public relations.On arrival on our training we were taken on a tour around the station and its various departments, a lot of them .However the main outlook was the public relations department which goes by the name"corporate communication section" in the station.
In the department , we meet the public relation practitioner we were assigned to and she educated us on what really goes in public relations for a media organisation, such as branding of the organisation, dealing with events and putting the needs of their audience,and the inter connection between public relations and the media it was great hearing it on first hand , we were then taken to the radio and TV departments we were explored more on media delivery of advertisements and how the whole process is done, be it announcements and so forth .
All in all public relations is a very interesting and broad field, i hope to see myself be a great public relations practitioner in the near future.I m grateful to have been given such an opportunity to expand my horizons in public relations.
