Bowling for Games Day only happened this week, 23 May. A lot of arrangements were only made last minute as we only confirmed the dates with the schools at the last hour, and many bowling alleys were fully booked. There was a last minute scramble to get the logistics up and running for the event. Sometimes I find it a challenge to accomplish an event within a limited time frame, but sometimes I like that satisfaction when I everything gets done after the rush.
Finally we managed to book NSRCC Safra Bowl for our Bowling event and things started following up after that. However, we faced some problems with our staff volunteers. For this event, we had sent out an email blast (our usual method) to ask for volunteers. At first we had an overwhelming response, but when nearer to the event date, we had many drop outs, mainly because of work commitments. Even though such problems are inevitable, I believe that we have yet to cultivate a CSR culture internally yet.
We have to work on this! (:

The unexpected always happen no matter how well-planned things are. I had the same issue during one of my events. Taught me to always leave allowance for any preparations. Good luck!
I agree! I had faced something similar during my internship, when my director and I had to arrange a media gathering for a client's conference with one week's notice! Without help from my senior colleague (whom I usually go to) I had to draft pitches and media invite, and also arrange for interviews on my own after my director's approval. Mad rush!
