Today marks the last weekday of April, which means... i don't have many more days left in LEWIS. Honestly, i am having mixed emotions already!
Anyway, the entire month of April was insane. I have to work over-time on most nights, rushing reports, doing mundane administrative work, 'going after' journalists about coverage, and getting increasing amount of workload from new clients. The worst thing is i am constantly interrupted from my work as there will always be meetings, incoming calls and new tasks assigned (briefings are time-consuming). Thus, i can be quite slow with completing my tasks. This clearly explains why i always experience an increasing workload!
Then again, looking on the bright side, it helps me learn to be more organised and helps me able to manage my time efficiently (prioritisation as well). Back in school, we often do not get to experience the importance of time in a day. For instance, if the deadline for a project is a month's away, we get the 'luxury' to procrastinate. Unless there are a few submissions coming up, we usually do not feel the urgency to complete the assignments.
However, at work, there could be new assignments/tasks on that day, which are due at the end of the same day you have been assigned. On bad days, it could be a tedious and time-consuming task, but only given the very last hour of the day at work to complete it (with no errors, of course). So, there is definitely added pressure, pressure to do it well and to meet the almost-impossible-deadline.
Everyday is hectic, juggling a few tasks at one go can be scary, but i am coping better now. Also, I am thankful for the fact that my time-management skills are improving, or at least this is what I think, and hopefully, it just gets better.
