PR 393 Reflective Blog Entry #2
I made it half way!
This week I felt a lot more comfortable and knew what I was doing a bit more. I also found myself a lot busier and some days even felt a little bit stressed out in terms of finishing all the things I had to do!
An overview of what i did in my second week:
A lot of media clippings, as it gets closer to Perth Fashion Festival (September 21-27) there has been a lot more print and online media coverage for me to clip and I am sure during the week of PFF I will be overloaded with media clippings!
There was the weekly staff meeting again this week, which i enjoy going to as it gives me a bit more of a feel for the company and an insight into what is going on in each department.
I had to put together a 4 copies of a media coverage report including excel spreadsheet and copies of each media clipping for a client that launched a couple of months ago. The consultants from the consumer department needed it for a meeting with the client.
I also did some research for possible sponsorship for one of PPR’s large international clients. That was fun as I got to do a lot of internet searching for relevant sponsorship opportunities and events.
Also this week I had to organise and pick up a cake to appear on television for a client. I had to take it to Channel Ten studios, which was cool to see and something a bit different!
I did a few media releases as well which is good to put my skills I have learnt at uni to good use.
The last two weeks have gone really fast and I cant believe its already half way!
I am enjoying a taste of full time work and has given me a better understanding of how public relations works in a corporation.
The Best part of Week 2 was: I got to go along to the first heats of the PFF International Model Search at Claremont Quarter on Thursday. I didn’t have much to do but the consultant took me along to get a feel of what goes on at events like that. The guest judge was Gail Elliott who was a supermodel in the 80s and designer of label Little Joe. She was very nice and so stunning! It was interesting to see how PR organises the media and was good to get some experience out of the office!
