Last week was my first week at my internship at Professional Public Relations (PPR) in Subiaco.
My internship started on August 29 and will be doing it for four weeks full time. It will be difficult to juggle study and working full time but so far so good.
Tomorrow is my second week and i am looking forward to getting more knowledge and experience.
My first day at PPR i was extremely nervous to be in the setting of such a busy and large company (the biggest PR place in Perth). I felt like a bit of a fish out of water as it was my first time in a workplace like this.
Everybody is really great and has been giving me a good amount of work to get through!
PPR is split into four specialised divisions covering the sectors; corporate communications, consumer (marketing communications), investor relations and digital communications.
PPR has a long and impressive list of clients, and I have already been working on some really interesting and varied clients and have been supporting various consultants with their assignments.
In my first week i have already been exposed to a number of different jobs, for various clients. I have mainly been working on Perth Fashion Festival tasks, such as the daily media clippings from print and online media coverage, media alerts, media coverage reports etc.
I have also been given tasks for some large clients which has been interesting to see how everything works. I also had a meeting with two of the consultants and I am going to be helping them with a sponsorship audit (looking for corporate sponsorships) for a large international company, which will be really exciting.
I really enjoyed my first week and my first introduction into the world of public relations.
I know i want to pursue a career in this field, as i am genuinely interested in it. It is a great place to work and they pride themselves on being professional.
I hope everyone enjoyed/is enjoying their internships.
Bring on week two!

Hi Lisette,
Wow that must be so exciting to work at that company, you have definitely taken a lot on working there full time while at uni but it will definitely be worth it some of the events and clients you will work with will be so much fun and you will gain some great connections.
The company I am completing my internship with is working in partnership with the Perth fashion Fashion Festival so perhaps we'll cross paths at some stage :)
anyway see you soon
Tess
