Hey guys!
I had a really interesting day today reflecting on how important staff meetings and post event evaluation is. Within the office there is a lot of feedback given and critical reflection which i know doesnt always occur in every workplace, but i really think it is such a beneficial part on improving how events unfold in the future.
We discussed pre promotion, the benefit of more volunteers, further curtin media promotion and many other things. It was really good to sit in and see how those meetings go down and get a better grasp on self evaluation.
There definitely is a lack of funding that certainly influences the amount of advertising that the department can afford. So most of it comes from media publication and the Curtin intranet. It is interesting to see the creative ways the deptartment use to send out media releases that are timely as well are eye catching. A lot of this does come down to the contacts Maureen has made and managed to foster friendships with them which helps a lot in getting stories published. this again verifies to me how important good communication and personal skills are in this industry.
