Full steam ahead until December 22nd!

Week ending: Sunday 18th December
Blog: # two

Dear Fellow Public Relations prac students,

I hope your week has been as productive as mine. For a summer time in Perth it has been usually productive for me. More work and less Christmas festivities unfortunately!

My boss has set some strict deadlines that i must meet before Christmas.

The challenge now is to complete these projects:
1. Updated and/or rewrite the entire copy of our website
2. Research and write copy for brochures, fact sheets and case studies for three new product ranges.
3. Complete the next edition of our bi-monthly newsletter
4. Write and schedule social media message content for the next three weeks.
5. Develop and implement a ‘Media centre’ on the website.
So i dare say in the coming week until Christmas i am going to be busy.
Though for this week’s blog i thought the next logical step following on from my first blog, which included my job description, would be to describe my week.

SO HERE IS MY WEEK!

MONDAY – my day started early at a networking breakfast. My day then included tasks such as: competitor and media reports, competitor research and analysis, invoices and co-op claims, posting of relevant news items to our website page, scripts, and researching and uploading social media message schedule for the week.

TUESDAY – my focus was on: product copy writing, call centre script writing, media liaison with local newspaper journalist, copy writing for comment to the media, copy writing and mail merge for sales letter, website copy writing, and developing content of newsletter.

WEDNESDAY – DAY OFF

THURSDAY – the centre of attention Thursday was on: liaising with our website developer with regard to changes to the website layout and content, liaising with the graphic designer about a new graphic of a house that i need designing for the website, liaising with the business systems analyst to corporate website changes into our CRM software, manager meetings, and customer satisfaction survey for the month of November.

FRIDAY – the aim on Friday was: to gain insight into the sales division and gain customer feedback for some case studies i am completing. My tasks included: accompanying a salesman to two appointments and calling on a few loyal customers to conduct interviews relevant to our services and to take photographs of the customer with the relevant product. Products included LED lighting, solar hot water system and energy audit.

That was my week!

Until my next entry - best of luck to you all with your prac.

Signing off on my second week and second blog entry,
D. Cornish
