Hi everyone,
It has been a week since i joined Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) for their internship program and yes, this is my very first post. While i will be having my summer holidays for 3 months, i thought it would be a great idea to fully utilize my holidays by doing my internship (also, just in case i got too bored at home) and therefore, i applied for STB. It was until late January they finally replied me and i was told to go for a quick interview last monday.
I was undeniably nervous at first about everything. I kept asking myself questions like what are they going to ask me? How am going to respond? How should i present myself on the day? and all those sort. Oh well, it was my first interview after all so i guess i'm still normal. During the interview, i answered all their questions with confident but to be honest, i was scared as hell. However it was indeed a quick interview and right away, i was told to start my job (I guess they really need interns). I absolutely have no idea if i should feel happy or sad because yes, i am not mentally or physically prepared. Everything just happened too fast.
On my first day of internship, I was being introduced to every departments and surprisingly everyone was friendly. The induction was quick and easy but of course, i am still in the process of remembering their names. In the department where I'm working at the moment (STB Leisure), there were also 4 other interns working with me. Two from Germany and another two from Kuala Lumpur.
First day of internship, well i can say, it wasn't so bad. I was given a stack of documents about Rainforest World Music Festival and Borneo Jazz Festival to read and familiarize with. Apparently in Sarawak, these both events are held annually in order to attract more visitors or tourists and at the same time improvised the tourism sector in Sarawak by bringing together world renowned stage performers to the mystical island of Borneo.
Slowly as days go by, i'm starting to get comfortable around. I've also attended a meeting where i'm exposed to all the plans and outline of both the events and therefore got a better insight of how the events were carried out and promoted. I'm looking forward to the coming weeks and i hope everyone like me, is enjoying their internship as well.
Have a good day guys !
