What Makes Your Internship Awesome?

It has been officially a month since I started my internship. So I decided to come out with this list, writing about why my internship is awesome.

Here you go :)

1. PR Plan

The most A-W-E-S-O-M-E part of my internship is that interns do not only sit in the office and waiting for supervisor to give orders. We are asked to propose our own events that we like the company to organize! Fun isn't it? In class, we did PR Plan but this time, we get to really execute it.

Oh and I did mentioned in my previous post that I was asked to do a proposal for Pullman Hotels and Resorts' launching. Good news is, my supervisor approves it. Bad news is, it will only be executed if the Director approves it :(

I proposed to invite two hosts from Hot Guys Who Cook to emcee for the grand opening event. I've contacted their manager, asking for their quotation prices. It was easy since they are both under the same agency.

The first emcee is Josiah Mizukami, Japanese mix Caucasian. He won Cleo's magazine Most Eligible Bachelor in 2011. He emcee for Miss Global International Malaysia 2012, Miss World Malaysia 2009 and many other.

The second emcee is Henry Golding. His dad is British and his mom is Iban from Betong, Sarawak. (* I am from Sarawak and I am excited to actually meet him in person!). Some people might know him since he appeared a lot on TV. He is Canon (Malaysia) Ambassador. He works for ESPN, National Geographic, Channel News Asia and etc.

2. Press Release

Some companies do not allow their interns to write press releases for them. But in the company where I am currently at, we are asked to write press releases about their CSR-related events.

3. Media relations

Since we wrote our own press releases, we get the chance to create relationships with the local media. We have a list of their contact details and can even approach them personally.

P/S: I WhatsApp two of the editors regarding my press releases and they actually responded. They are so cool. *double thumbs up*

4. Events

We are going to have the company's annual lunch this weekend and we are given different tasks to handle that is related to the event. My tasks are to design the cards door gifts and also to survey prices of the lucky draw prizes to be given on that day $$$.

I am not good in designing since I am not really familiar with designing tools but... I tried my best.
I have collected pictures of the employees working in the company, made picture collage out of them and use it as the cards' background. Below are some of the designs I did for the cards for the door gifts.

5. Employee relationship

We are not only developing PR Plans and press releases in the office. Sometimes, we go around the office to do survey or to approach the employees about any events that are to be executed in any time soon. Although we did not get to have long chats or conversations, still I think it is a good way to get to know people who work in the same place.

So...This is my quick-short list of my awesome internship. Looking forward to add more to the list. Hope everybody finds their own "What makes your internship awesome?" list!!

Cheers,
Angelyna Ental

Nice work, Angie!
Hope that the director would accept your PR plan proposal. It would be nice if Henry Golding would be able to come hehe.
All the best!
