Working in a new- uprising firm.
The experience of working in a firm that is now launching its communication department has been fun. However, fun was not the only feelings I had there. The company where I did my placement is now launching its communication department. Before it was just a modelling agency doing events for companies. Now that they are launching a massive secret project in Mauritius in relations to fashion industry itself, it will be launching its new department simultaneously. They are seizing this opportunity to showcase the company along with the project.
Since they are new to the communication business, they are having to step out of their comfort zone to explore new seas. As a matter of fact, they are going slow and very calculative with their executions. Their pace is conspicuously unhurried and this aspect is accepted and appreciated by some clients but this is not the case for others.
They have been asked to be more spontaneous and handle things faster. As an intern there I was being given instructions to keep an eye for detail but deliver as fast as possible and since I lack experience, the possibility for mistakes was there. This made the work a lot tougher than I imagined.
However, fortunately, they stopped the practice of applying unnecessary pressure and divided the job more equitably and accordingly.
My observation was that my colleagues were themselves, trying to figure out how to run the company as they are new to this industry. Also, the fact that they want to make it big quickly is making them have cold sweats which hence, made me heavily sweat under their guidance.
Thus, the perks of working in an uprising firm is that everyone helps each other to find their way. However, top management decisions are sometimes questionable and lack intuitive actions to make things happen and happen faster.

Hello Sadhvi!
I can conclude that you had a wonderful experience at Flash Communications.
How did you find the transition from a modelling agency to a communication one?
Are they being able to adapt with this change?
