Real clients & Real media= Real experience!

Time to reflect on the highlights of being an intern...

Amid the vast amount of learning and hands on experience gained over the past few months of being an intern at Kreab and having worked with very talented and experienced consultants, there are two distinct aspects of my experience which were a highlight.

Clients & Media

Conversing with clients and meeting members of the media at an event  provided me with experience and wisdom that will guide my future PR endeavours.

Attending one of the regular meetings with one of our biggest clients provided me with invaluable experience as I was sitting among client representatives and despite having to adopt a fly-on-the-wall approach and absorb as much as I possibly could, part of me felt like I truly did belong in that boardroom.

Knowing I walked away from that meeting feeling informed and not out of my depth in terms of what was discussed- having already done some work for the client I felt reasonably within the loop- was a truly wonderful and satisfying feeling.

Immediately after the meeting I began work on one of the tasks that had been assigned which was a new project. My supervisor and I had time to dissect and discuss the proposed task and decide what was the best approach in order to satisfy the client's visual.

It was an even better feeling when that same client sent an email to our team full of praise for an event strategy which I assisted with !

That feeling of knowing a client appreciated my ideas and hard work was worth all the stress !

The other highlight of my life as an intern involved meeting with members of a Channel Seven news crew, who reported on one of the events which our team was responsible for conducting.

The event was small scale- yet an all round success and given the unpredictable nature of the media, it was a great achievement to have a news station cover the event.

I had the opportunity to meet the news reporter and also the cameraman, which was a learning experience in itself seeing how they operate and what shots they want, who they want to interview, who they want to speak to.

Real life clients and interactions with real media provided me with nothing but raw, real experience and one can only hope that in the future we cross paths again !

Until next time,

Maddie
