Hello, everyone! I am Sim Chiew Hui from Curtin Sarawak Campus, so here comes to the first day of my PR internship in Grand Palace Hotel. Right after I had been officially introduced to my boss and seniors, and then I received the first task that given by my internship supervisor, Miss Siti Thaqifah. She asked me to read through document file name ‘PR writes up’. Throughout a whole day of reading through all the hospitality type of press releases, thus I referred all those press releases as samples in order to compose my first press release in my internship.
In hospitality PR industry, everything that related promotional tools is necessary to be attractive and emphasize on outstanding aesthetic standard among the other competitors. Since creativity matters much, thus the appealing finalize work apparently is the critic and the primary aspect on attracting customers’ attention, carry out for the successful promotional path so it will be ease to create more awareness of company within Miri Community. Therefore, the press releases that done by hotel PR department will be expected to come out with exquisite figure simultaneously it precisely conveyed messages to audiences. The press releases possess the ability on grabbing attentions of general public among other luxurious hotel competitors. Nevertheless, perhaps potential customers keep good impression towards the hotel services accordingly will lead to effectively increase the rate of repeat customers.
On the first day, I had been taught that there is software similar to Photoshop named “coral draw” which is commonly and widely used by the other companies. In Curtin Mass Communication studies, there is a mass communication unit named “Design Practice” which had mostly taught us on how to use adobe Photoshop software. Whereby, those two software have slightly the same features, but the method of using is totally different. Hence, my senior started with taught me about how to correctly using it and practice more in order to apply in press release design.
As to conclude, I would say Grand Palace Hotel is a definitely pleasant place for my PR internship placement. The great beginning of all made me have confidence towards the future PR relating occupation as to believeI could blend in well as a part of PR community. I believe and confidently know that I learned throughout the internship, the experiences I am going to have within these months and I will own the capability of dealing with various of PR work tasks in a more confident way. But then, the most important matter is it did make me feel challenging when it comes to the tasks that I never practice in Curtin. Yet it will broaden my knowledge, experiences in PR professionalism scope from this internship and the working environment.
Best of luck to everyone.
With regards,
Sim Chiew Hui
