Hello again, this shall be my last post and I hope to make it a meaningful one.
In my first year, the concept of public relations was foreign and unfamiliar to me, all i thought i knew was if I liked to talk and write, and if liked socializing perhaps I might like PR. Fast forward to my last month as a PR intern, I've still got a long way to go before i can confidently say that I know what PR is all about. Nonetheless, my studies and this placement have given me valuable insight into the PR industry.
After much consideration, I have made a realization that PR may not be me my cup of tea, I will probably not actively pursue a career in PR as I don't see myself working in a PR consultancy or a PR department in a company. Nonetheless, this does that mean that i will completely forsake the three years I've spent learning and practicing PR. If the opportunity presents itself, i would very much prefer to practice PR in an NGO or utilize the knowledge I've gained for a future business venture.
I do believe that PR, good PR that is, is something that should be practiced by everyone. To conclude this post, I would like to recap on my favorite things about PR. My studies have taught me that PR has the power to shift perceptions and change attitudes and because of this power, PR can be a powerful advocate for marginalized groups and issues. If i were to practiced PR, i hope that it would be for a meaningful cause.

Hi Daphne,
It was interesting to read your final post after the duration of your internship and the conclusions you have come to. It is great to see the understanding you have for Public relations and what constitutes good public relations practice.
I wish you luck with the rest of your studies.
Hi Daphne,
I support your statement in here. Studying PR for 3 years definitely does not mean it's a waste, but it's very much insightful as it is eye-opening for us to see the "real world" out there. Working as a PR consultancy for an NGO and anything that's for a good cause is definitely the right way. Let's put it this way, if a highly reputable company has done something bad that affects the society, they would either apologize or cover it up to not lose their company's reputation. Hence it's something that's not nice in today's world for such thing to be happening. I'm glad that we both have mutual thoughts about this, and always hope people in the PR world would do good.
Hi Daphne! Boy have we come a long way since our first PR class 3 years ago? Feeling my sentimental bones tingling typing this in Bentley now. Starting out, PR was a very based profession in corporate affairs for me. When I think PR, I think events and business meetings. Now, I see that PR can be way more beyond that and much more. Personal branding has been a common theme when I think about the future and in relations to PR. I also agree good PR should be practiced by everyone and it is the responsibility of PR practitioners to uphold that to create a greater change within the wild corporate jungle. It seems like the current trend is to engage charities and the community with big corporates like Dove's Inner beauty campaign.
I share your sentiment that, if I too were to work within the PR field, I would hope to lead a meaningful one.
