The end of the road....it has been insightful

Hey guys

Well i have i am almost at the end of my internship now. Just have two more days to go:)..Well all i can say is that even though at first i had doubts about my placement, i have actually realized that PR is so versatile and that it is needed everywhere. I just had the chance to experience it in an educational institution..Ideally i would have liked to take it up in the hotel industry, but i know that i still have time for that in the near future.

During my internship, i feel that i have grown personally, because i had to be a mature adult and not a college student. I have built relationships with my colleges that i am greatful for and being a multinational institution, i got to interact with various people and learn alot from them. I got used to waking up at dawn and that in a way was preparing me for when i do get that actual job that i want. It made me disciplined as an individual. You know, its not like college wen u probably have classes 3 times a week and you can actually get away with missing a class or two..

The real world is about accounting for your absence, being on time and doing what you are expected to do and more. I found this very interesting and although it would get frustrating at times, its what you have to sign up for if you want to make it to the dream career and become successful.

Well i can say that i learned to become a better writer, i learned to approach people and most of all my confidence levels have improved. That is why i think that this was a great experience. What it has made me realize however, is that i may not be the type of person to sit at a desk all day. It has made me realize that i need a career that keeps me on the move and so i would like something in hospitality or travel...I also require something that will keep me busy but i should have a passion for, like charity work which i have also been fond for. So working for an NGO is definitely on my list of options.

Was it what i expected??yes and no, i didn't really get to do alot that i hoped for especially events, but i guess it was because of where i was placed. But i did learn alot through observation and i am confident that a career in PR is where i belong..

Well i guess that's it from me and my goodbyes. it has been great reading and responding to some of your post. We were all different, doing various things but we all shared a common goal...to grow into the best PR people we can possibly be..its been a [pleasure guys..And i shall continue reading your posts and responding even though i am done:)

To those who are still doing their internship, good luck and have fun....

all the best
Sadie.....xoxo
