Food Review!

Hey everyone!

Jess here interning for Arcis Communications in KL.., just wanted to share with you guys a fun experience that i got the chance to do during internship!!

One of my company's client is in the food business, and has many restaurants all over Kuala Lumpur. They recently opened a spanish-asian restaurant and new chinese restaurant. My public relations company wanted to hold 2 different food review sessions, one of the food review session was for journalists from women publications to attend and the second food review session was for food bloggers to attend.

My company invited 8 journalists for women's publication to attend the food review session at the spanish-asian restaurant for lunch and invited about 12 bloggers to attend the review session at the chinese restaurant later that night for dinner.

The food review sessions was such a great experience as i got to see how food review sessions happened and how to prepare for them. i was nervous attending it at first because my manager just told me to sit and entertain the journalists and bloggers and i didn't really understand what i had to do, but when the journalists came in, we all sat together and discussed our line of work and exchanged information about each other. Another great experience for me to meet people in the media and everyone was very friendly and the food was great :)

The bloggers were surprisingly more serious than the journalists but it was still great to meet them. It just showed how important blogs and bloggers are in today's world. They are treated like professionals and they act like professionals as they wrote notes during the dinner and took professional pictures for their blogs. The topic going around the table for this food review session was all about food and where to eat and where not to eat. I learned that most of the bloggers that night earned quite a bit of money just from writing in their blogs. Another great way of networking and also more great food!

This was a great experience of public relations that i manage to attend during my short time of interning and i'm glad i got to do it!

Jessica.

The food review session sounds like lots of fun!
I'm sure being told to 'entertain' the journalists and bloggers would have been very nerve racking as especially all of the interns entering the workforce 'entertain' could mean a variety of things!
I'm glad you enjoyed your experience and learnt a few new things, it's nice to hear that meeting the media isn't as scary as we all think!
