Once i was fully equipped with what it takes to work at KFCB after about two weeks of being in the office, my boss finally decided that it's time i went out. He asked me to prepare a presentation of what i understood KFCB to be. I should include its visoin, mission and so on. Basically a presentation that would create awareness of the organisation. That was not really hard considering everything was already there, i pretty much just had to organise o=it on powerpoint slides. So that evening before we closed he asked me to present for him, like a small run-down beofre the actual day. he was impressed, we corrected a few things and then he was said "you come with me tomorrow for the press conference".
I went back to my office, happy of course finally i was getting out. that evening i went through practically all the suits i had trying to decide what was the best look for me. the next day, i was up early, well dressed and ready for work. i knew i was looking good because the reactions from my house to the guards at the offices and my collegues made me feel too good.
We went for the Press conference at the Kenyatta international Conference Center, thats where most of the government meetings always take place. so i walked with my boss, the PRO and IT person who was going to set up. The minister as well as other heads of the government were all there, it felt good to shake hands with them and even better whenever my boss introduced me as Melissa from the PR department as opposed to an intern. the conference was aired live on TV and it was a meeting to discuss the communication ACT and for the media to ask the governmnet questions inregard to it. As i had mentioned earlier, the media had blacked the government because they were against the bill.

Being able to represent the organisation is a wonderful and rewarding feeling. It is all in the presentation and confidence of the delivery. That goes for confidence in the organisation and obviously the way you present yourself. Confidence makes a huge difference in PR and you certainly demonstrated that in order for your boss to have the confidence in you. To present the KFCB at the media conference requires a good understanding of an organisation and you, as an intern, to prepare for the media conference and represent KFCB it is a big ask. It must have been very exciting? Did you have to answer any questions to the media yourself? How did it go?
