Corporate Lists for Golden Spokes

Hello everyone!

So far I am in my last week of internship and I can't wait to get over it. Ever since the Quiz Night event organized by my organization, our focus has since diverted to the next event which is the Golden Spokes Bike Ride which will be held on the 8th of November at Champions Lake Regatta Center at Armadale.

For this event, my task is to compile a list of corporate contacts. Basically, I had to look through the yellow pages for contact details of the head office as well as going through companies listed in the stock exchange and google it for their contact details.

I find this task boring and time consuming. However, this task is very important as these corporate contacts will be the potential target audience who will participate in this event. After compiling it, the plan is to get volunteers and call every single company to get a specific contact person and informing them that our organization will be sending an information pack about the Golden Spokes Bike Ride.

For this tasks, I have only about 1 week to compile it and to make things more difficult, i have 2 assignments due on the same week. This really tested my time management skills which i believe I did pretty well. I managed to complete the 2 assignments as well as compiling the corporate lists. Aside from that, this task really exposes me to the wide variety of companies our in the market, some which I never heard of before. Besides the corporate lists, I also had to do some minimal tasks such as editing about 30 letters and getting them ready to be posted.

That is it for now and good luck for everyone who are doing the report for this internship!

Hello,

I have been doing similar tasks during my PR placement - lots of research, lots of ring arounds, and lots of spreadsheets! I know how these can be VERY boring and repetitive, but as you say they are necessary to the event you're organising and Im sure very greatly appreciated.

I am doing my placement five days a week, plus working plus uni, so I am feeling the same frustration of time management! It's hard sometimes to know what to prioritise - but it sounds like you managed your time really well, I hope I can do the same!

Good luck with the Golden Spokes Bike Ride! :)
