Since the launch of the innovation book, it has been my departments responsibility to send copies to all the media publications that have relations with Limkokwing.
The past two weeks have been of great challenge, our department has been working towards a lot of events to come. Most of the events have to do with media and communication companies. These require so much in terms of information flow within departments of media and PR relations and Marketing.
The first was the Bernama TV crew which visited the cyberjaya campus, this visit was done for knowledge exchange purposes. I then realized that a lot could be learnt and ideas could be acquired in such interactions.
The Bernama TV has also scheduled an interview with the Head of International relations and two students, as i write this the preparations for this interview are on, including setting a place suitable for the Bernama equipment, to selecting and briefing the students that are to be interviewed. The plan changes day to day if new ideas are put forward. I realized that this is because Limkokwing wants to keep a reputable image and for that they put a lot effort to make it that way.
There has been an announcement for a visit by Miss Botswana, our responsibility is to keep all the media publications aware of this as well providing them with her daily schedule during this visit. Our thrive is an extensive media coverage because her visit is sponsored by Limkokwing as a youth empowerment strategy a way of performing its CSR.
CSR continues to be a big deal in Limkokwing as from yesterday preparations towards a charitable concert for the victims of Haiti started, giving us 9 days before the event. This event brought about my first ever independent media release! That was then distributed to invited organizations. Meetings on this concert covers from stage performances,to sending invites, budget and media invitations!
Whoa... i must say event planning takes up so much work and is very sensitive to an organizations reputation and image. It has also come to my attention that even when there are no events season greeting packages and Books are always sent to media houses in relation with Limkokwing to fasten relations...!!
Let me now put my seat belt on and see what i get out of these events!
Lovely!

Media Relations tools has been mentioned in your blog post. Whenever an opportunity arises, PR practitioner should strengthen the relationship with the media and well in some cases it is nice to show our appreciation to them for covering our events, publishing our articles, doing interviews and propose feature articles.
The flow of information increases day after day and for the PR practice to keep up and pace up, the need for good media relations and proper media planning as well as strategies.
Concerning CSR, many corporations over use this concept as a PR & Media cash cow as events are organised with the sole purpose of getting more publicity rather than being sincere for the cause.
Thank you Laurent, informative!
