After been given more task around the office i was then given a bigger responsibility to review media proposals sent by other companies requesting coverage from CosmoGirl! it was a shock to me as the company's mail box and email receives hundreds of invitations and proposals each day. I was told that this job is very important as from the MarCom's department is the people who approves which proposal or events that will be covered by the journalistic team of CosmoGirl!
There was so many proposals that i had to go through, but my supervisor reminded me that the major criteria for those proposals that are approved is that the event always needs to relate and promote the vision and mission of CosmoGirl! as a teen fashion magazine.
I was given the company profile and they asked me to study it as if it was my bible. As it was all explained in the company profile what the vision mission of the magazine is. I had to sort out all the proposal according the magazines topics such as; fashion events, feature events, music event, CSR events and so on. I needed to choose those events that was related to the youth as the magazine is.
The first day i was in charge of this many of the proposals i approved was criticized by my supervisor as some of them did not match the criteria given. But after a week of getting a hang of dealing with proposals my supervisor trusted me to approve the proposals and send them straight to the journalistic team to go report on the event.
It was a lot of pressure as because all of the proposals sent to the comapny was all really cool events so it was so hard to me to filter the ones that most relates to the magazine. I also got to see how major companies make their invites and proposals. SOme of them send very formal letters requesting coverage from the magazine some send really fun and creative invites for the magazine, it was very cool getting a chance to see all off them.
