National Geographic-Flight of the hawkz

I was pleasently shocked and surprised when my supervisor came to me one day and said my colleague Arijit Rakshit and myself will be in charge of an event happening in Bangalore. Arijit was new in the company and I was intern so both of us were really scared as we had a huge reponsibility on our shoulders.

It was National Geographic reality show called “Flight of the Hawkz”. It’s a unique and thrilling SUV off roading driving experience offering to driving enthusiasts a chance of lifetime to embark on an escapade across India. The host of the show is Nethra Raghuraman( an indian super model) and special judge bieng Dino Morea ( A super model and Bollywood movie star). The selection of contestents will take place in nine major cities across India. The on ground selection process will include a mental ability test, obstacle course and finally a interview with Nethra and Dino.

My job was to handle the selection process event that was taking taking place in Bangalore on 17th January 2010. As a part of this I was incharge of media invitation which includes pitching the event to the journalist in way that interest them, comfirming the number of media attendance, arranging cab service for all the media representatives, preparing the media kit that includes press release that should be handed over to the media at the event, arranging interviews between the journalists and the celebrities, arranging the photo sessions of dino and nethra for the media, helping the media in getting quates and photos of the contestants and the event.

It was a really exciting experience as I got to really interact with the celebrities both Dino and Nethra. From the work point of view the event was a success as the target media attendance requested or required by our client National Geographic was 6 to 9, but on the day we had 14 media publications covering the event.
