Hello everyone!
Have you ever face any embarrassing moment during your internship? Oh well I did. It was on the day itself of the event where I become the emcee for it. The event that I participate is called ' My Favourite Read '. Every month Pustaka Miri itself will held the event and invite a few schools to participate. Basically I was assigned by my supervisor to become the emcee for it. Few days before the event, I was told to keep an update from one of the coordinator in charge. She is the one who handle the list of the schools who agree to come and the names of the invited presenters. I did look for her as the days goes and also to inform her that to let me know if there is any update.
Confidently, the day of the event is finally here. I did a few changes and add some of the new info in the last minutes! I was nervous before the event is about to start. Seeing students in the hall freaks me out. Anyway as the event started. There I was on the stage, my first time becoming an emcee for an event and facing the audience. I can feel the nerves all over me as if like I'm floating (telling you how nervous and scared was I). But as I proceed slowly I managed to calm my nerves down and my tone and body language is in my control. As I greet everyone and so on, ONE mistakes that I made which I address the invited presenters as Madam instead of Miss. I found out as I called out for her to come to the stage and present. Then she recall to us that it is Miss instead of Madam, basically I was embarrassed and in my heart was like "oh no! as an emcee i should have gotten my info right". Then I just smile to her and as for my turn to speak again, I call out Miss instead of Madam and she smiled. Fast forward it, the event went well an I learned something from it.
The important thing is that does not matter if a PR person should be an emcee or not, but to those who are assign to become an emcee for an event, ALWAYS AND ALWAYS get the latest info from the person you were assigned with which is the coordinator of the event. For my case she has all the list and info and so on. She apparently did not inform me if the person is she and he. And so it's my responsibility to keep track with her. What I learned is that to learn from the mistakes that I made and from there I learn how to face the fear that I've bet everyone is facing and also as a PR person always be prepare in any situation and tasks that are given to you.
Until then, my next post

Cassandra, good sharing. Everyone makes mistakes, so am I. What's important is that we learn from our mistakes, improve ourselves to be a better PR professional.
